Paris Plages; the capital turns into a seaside resort in early July

With the return of summer, Paris Plages (Paris Beaches) makes its big comeback, albeit without sand for the second year in a row due to environmental considerations. From July 6th to September 1st, 2019, many activities worthy of real seaside resorts will be yours to enjoy for the duration of the summer season. Put on your sunhat, spread your towel ... Welcome to Paris Plages!

Come and try a sand-free beach

Paris Plages, a celebration of beach holiday fun, takes place in several parts of the capital including locations on the banks of the Seine, the forecourt of the Hôtel de Ville and, of course, the three bathing areas of the Bassin de la Villette open daily from 11:00 to 21:00. Since 2017, however, Paris Plages has been sand-free. You can now enjoy pleasant moments of relaxation on grassy areas shaded by palm trees and parasols. Come along and grab a deckchair or sun lounger and take advantage of the seaside pleasures on offer such as cooling mist sprays, refreshment stands, ice cream vendors, picnic tables and more.

Activities for everyone

Paris Plages offer a selection of summer sports and cultural activities, giving you the opportunity to enjoy table football tournaments, beach volleyball, polo, rowing, yoga sessions, zumba classes and much more. Pop-up libraries also await you because, as we all know, the leisure time we have on holiday is great for catching up with some reading. You can even take a dip, thanks to the three swimming pools for different ability levels set up in the Bassin de la Villette. Cool off for free or have some fun on a pedalo. It all adds up to seaside resort enjoyment and activities for all the family!
